Tommy Tape ® Manufacturing Inc., based in
Southington, Connecticut, is a state of the art manufacturer of
“self-fusing” silicone rubber tape products. We own eleven fully automated
extruders that are devoted to manufacturing silicone rubber tapes exclusively.
The company was founded on the premise that if one firm could focus their
attention on producing just one product with concentrated effort, the result
would be the highest quality product at an affordable price. We have achieved
just that! We can make more self fusing, silicone rubber tapes in more colors,
shapes, widths, thickness and sizes than anybody. The most popular 20 & 30
mil varieties are always in stock. The 10 mil sizes (by far the most
difficult to produce) have a 4 week lead time. All 40 mil and above thickness
varieties enjoy only a two week lead time. Our quality assurance program, and our experienced team of plant
and engineering personnel, allow us to provide our customers with not only an
excellent product, but excellent support as well.
Oddly enough, most individuals who come across
self-fusing, silicone rubber tape think of it as a new product. Nothing could be
further from the truth! State and municipal utilities have been using it in
electrical applications for years. At one time the military was the primary
purchaser of this product. It was through their experiences that the incredible
versatility of this product was discovered. When we say that it has been field
tested in the harshest of conditions, harshest is exactly what we mean. Think
about it for a minute... do you know of any tape that has been used for anything
from wrapping a baseball bat handle on up to, and including, wrapping pipes that
carry radioactive wastes?
Tommy Tape® is manufactured from a specially formulated silicone rubber
compound and:
 |
has a self-bonding/non-adhesive characteristic that fuses to itself within
24 hours, leaving no mastic residue if removed. |
 |
is capable of resisting temperatures of -65° to +500° Fahrenheit and can
be applied in various "extreme temperature" applications. |
 |
has 300% elongation, stretches to form fit virtually any odd shape, and will
not crack or unravel during expansion or contraction. |
 |
is not only salt-water resistant, but can actually be applied underwater. |
 |
has a dielectric strength of up to 400 VPM, making it an excellent
insulator. |
As you investigate our web site you will discover that self-fusing
silicone rubber tapes have the potential to be used in virtually any market, and
contain performance capabilities that far exceed any of the tapes available
today. See the page for a list of some of Tommy Tape's most common uses. REWARD >
